What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics and Dento-Facial Orthopaedics is the specialised area of dentistry dedicated to the diagnosis, prevention and management of irregularities in the alignment of the teeth, the bite, and the jaws.

As well as straightening teeth, orthodontics can help correct and manage a host of other issues such as Finger and Oral Habits, Bite and Jaw Function Issues, Breathing Issues, and sometimes Speech Issues. It can also help to align and improve your dental and facial structures to achieve optimum balance and symmetry.

What is an Orthodontist?

Orthodontists are dentists who have completed an additional 3-year full time specialist doctorate degree at an accredited university which allows them to be registered as a Specialist Orthodontist with the Dental Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

An Orthodontist is a specialist in the diagnosis, prevention, and management of irregularities in the alignment of the teeth and jaws, and has expert knowledge of the latest technologies and techniques available to provide the highest quality treatment. By choosing an orthodontist, you are choosing the most qualified person to achieve the outcome you desire for yourself or your child.
